Summary: | A germplasm bank of cereals (wheat, oats, barley, rye, and triticales) was established at the small Grain Centre, Bethlehem, Republic of South Africa in 1981. Entries consist of named cultivars and outstanding selections. Entries were assigned South African numbers, planted in the field, and evaluated for different characters. Seeds were stored in a cold room (6°Ct1°) and will be increased as needed or once every 8-18 years. Coded descriptions have been computerized for identification of entries. Research samples (5-10 g) will be available upon request and without charge. A code of ethics from cereal workers in South Africa will accompany seed requests. |
