Summary:This article is about the new developments in Serbia in the field of food law. It provides a brief overview of main relevant laws recently revised and adopted in accordance with the EU standards. In addition, it illustrates Serbian efforts to create an integrated strategy for food safety and to adopt a law on food safety. The basic elements of this upcoming law are listed, as well. The authors conclude that Serbia gives a picture of a country with great potential for both, export and import activities and highlight the aspect of complexity arising from the implementation of new, modernized legislation.
