Description
Summary:In 1948, Ernst Robert Curtius and Jacques Handschin (both born in 1886) published the books that we today consider the impressive summae of their respective research. For them, however, working on these books meant the continuation and defense of their intellectual lives during the Nazi period. In five steps, the author reconstructs the lines of thought that informed these works. Also included are the author’s outline of the true nature of the relationship between Handschin and Heinrich Besseler.
