Summary:A classification of the numerous Greek and Latin treatises about metrical feet is suggested in order to identify the particular tradition which POxy 5159, containing a short description and exemplification of tetrasyllabic feet, does belong to. An interpretation of the equivalence dochmiac = epitrite referred to in this same papyrus is put forward within the frame of the ancient theory about dochmiacs.
