Summary: | The purpose of this paper is to study in depth the contribution of the five-season excavation at Zagora to the research and study of the built environment of the Geometric period. It is assumed that the material from Zagora is known to the reader, and other than a few images of architectural interest, details are not repeated here. For more general reasons—and not only for those pertaining to the limitations of space—this brief critical study is limited to architectural concerns, particularly those relating to the domestic architecture of the site. Limited reference is also made, and opinions are expressed, regarding sacred architecture, town planning, and the functioning of the settlement in its wider Cycladic context. |
