Description
Summary:The Cydnidae and Thyreocoridae have a small stridulitrum on the under side of the hindwing's postcubitus. The plectrum is a striated lima on the first tergite. Possession of the stridulitrum and plectrum is probably plesiomorphic in a complex of primitive Pentatomoidea. The Thaumastellidae (a member of the complex) also have a stridulitrum, near the postcubitus of the hindwing, and a similar plectrum. Some Scutelleridae and Tessaratomidae have a similar stridulitrum. Other morphological features ally these two families with-but are insufficient to warrant including them in-this complex of primitive pentatomoids.
