Summary: | Only a few of the many studies on settling tanks have measured velocity and suspended solids levels in the tank. This work provides such data on two primary settling tanks and one pilot plant, taken over a 3-year period. The plants were operated at varying rates of hydraulic loading and with or without the addition of chemicals for phosphorus removal. Conclusions are drawn on the relationship of velocities in the tank and suspended solids removal efficiency. |
