Description
Summary:A study in zooarchaeology, this paper aims to expand on previous faunal studies from Old Kiyyangan Village to create a better understanding of animal subsistence practices through time. This study includes specimen identification, diachronic changes in taxon frequency, and faunal densities by stratum in an effort to provide a preliminary overview of this season’s faunal record and its implications. In line with studies of spatial use and ceramic deposits, the faunal remains from this year will be examined with the demographic change following Spanish arrival (1585 A.D.) in mind. The findings, however, show no clear pattern of subsistence shift from deer to domestic pigs. The age of stratigraphy is relative and does not prove if disposal of remains are influenced by European contact.
