Summary:Larvae and adults of Alphitobius diaperinus, the lesser mealworm, bored into and lived in the scrotum of Rattus norvegicus, the Norway rat, on Negros Island, Philippines. The lesser mealworm, a pest of stored food products, sometimes associates with bats, poultry and other birds, and several vertebrates; literature reports of such associations are reviewed.
