Summary: | The location of the 145 stations (Maine to Florida) collected are given. The stations are briefly described and some chemical and physical parameters are given. The collecting, rearing and mounting techniques are described and the results of the rearings are presented. The subfamilies of the Chironomidae (larvae and pupae) and the tribes of Tanypodinae are keyed and the immature stages of the genus Clinotanypus are described. Some ecological data are given on the immatures and the variation of C. pinguis is analyzed. |
