Description
Summary:Within the framework of archaeological research undertaken by the group from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in the area of Banū Ruʿayn (Yemen), a study was carried out of the ancient irrigation systems of several historical dams situated near Ẓafār. This research allowed us to observe the compact and intentionally designed character of the irrigated spaces, as well as the space connection existing amongst these areas, which is an unquestionable result of a formative sequence. On the other hand, the relatively reduced size of each of these spaces, and the apparent regularity of surface (10 hectares approximately) hints at more precise details regarding the irrigation systems and the peasant communities that produced them.
