Summary: | This paper intends to characterize certain attitudes and practices of the local population with respect to a class of supernatural beings traditionally regarded as an integral part of human society. Using oral and written sources the author presents the human-jinn relations not in terms of folklore or magic but as the everyday practice of conflicts and alliances. The modern demonology of South Arabia is addressed by many scholars yet, as has been admitted more than once, much still remains to be done. |
