Summary: | The A. refers about some preliminary investigations on the behaviour of oneyear old pear trees: A)-grafted with inverted rings of their own bark; B)-grafted with normally orientated rings, and C)-without ring grafts. Any significant difference has result between B)- and C)- groups in relation to the trees development, but highly significant differences have been found between A)- and B)- so as between A)- and C)- groups of trees. Histological investigations have shown that factors involved in the dwarfing effect depend upon the abnormal structure of the new Dhloem and the new xylem formed underneath the bark rings. The method of origin of those abnormal tissues structures is discussed in relation to the inverted « polarity » effects on the meristematic activity and on the differentiated tissues organisation. |
