Summary: | The experiment was planned to know the effect of pH on both the infectivity of a crushed-nodule suspension of C. myrtifolia towards its host and the development of the nodules formed. Nodule formation occurred most freely over the range 6.0 to 9.0. The capacity of the host plant to tolerate relatively low pH levels exceeded that of the nodule organism. The acetylene reducing activity of the nodules was also tested. |
