SOME REMARKS ON NEUTRON LIFE-TIME AND ITS ROLE IN FISSION CHAIN REACTION KINETICS

The non-steady state of a fission chain reaction is determined by all the factors influencing the propagation of neutrons in the system. For general purposes these factors may be regarded as comprised by two integral parameters: neutron multiplication factor and mean neutron life-time. An attempt is...

Description
Summary:The non-steady state of a fission chain reaction is determined by all the factors influencing the propagation of neutrons in the system. For general purposes these factors may be regarded as comprised by two integral parameters: neutron multiplication factor and mean neutron life-time. An attempt is made here to make certain aspects of chain reaction kinetics more explicit by correlating some characteristics of the chain reacting system and their changes with corresponding integral parameters and their effect on neutron kinetics.
