Summary: | During the summer session of 1976 at Virginia Commonwealth University, a course in Living and Experimental Archaeology was taught under the directorship of Errett Callahan. In addition to learning the basic techniques of stone knapping, some members of the class participated in an experiment to determine the amount of time and lithic material which would be required before a beginning student could master advanced bifacial replication. The applications to primitive technology courses and to the archaeological record are discussed. |
