Description
Summary:The inertial, geometric, joint and surface compliance properties of a Hybrid III dummy were measured and the data reduced to the input format required for the Crash Victim Simulator (CVS)/Articulated Total Body (ATB) model. Two dummies were used in the study, one a standard Hybrid III with the pelvis section molded in a seated position and the other a Hybrid III with freely articulating hip joints. The measured data for the two dummies were combined, except for the lumbar spine, pelvic and upper leg segments, into one common data base. The CVS/ATB model was exercised with this input data to simulate a previously performed simulation in which a Part 572 data base had been used. The measurement methodology, the recorded and reduced data, assumptions in reducing the data to CVS/ATB model input requirements and the simulation results are discussed.
