La representation medievale de l’epoque des Troyens dans la version galicienne de la Crónica Troiana d’Alphonse XI

In the Iberian Peninsula Trojan legends became known from ancient sources and the medieval ones already produced in France, and there appeared versions in prose of the Roman de Troie, written in the twelfth century by Benoit de Saint Maure. In Galician we know the Historia Troyana and the Crónica Troyana, the latter written in Gallicia during the fourteenth century. Through the analysis of this last chronicle we intend to discuss how the medieval recreation of the Trojan legend (taken as veritable) took place, and how the Classical past was understood. In this sense, we intend to establish the relation between medieval reality and fiction on the one hand and, on the other, the tradition inherited from the classical authors, and also to analyse the problematics of the historical conscience of medieval authors, who built the past from the ideal models of feudal and chivalric society.
