Summary:The world of finance cases comprises a small population in the grand scheme of financial research and publication. Though directly associated with financial practice and documented to be an effective way to create experiential learning, many academics shy away from the use of cases in the classroom. Avoidance of cases, however, might sacrifice valuable opportunities to apply academic knowledge directly to business problems. It also forgoes prospects for writing and publishing one’s case research as an intellectual contribution. The goal of this article is to provide a framework for understanding the purpose and process, especially where it addresses case publication.
