Summary:The bioenergy industry offers benefits and threats to soil and water resources. The biofuel industry must have these residues to make liquid fuels and profits. Soil and wter resources need the residues to control soil erosion and maintain water quality. Sustainability of the biofuel industry depends on conserving both soil and water resources. These conflicting issues must be resolved successfully if biofuels are to play a significant role in furnishing the world’s energy supply.
