Summary: | During the period from Wlay 1987 to August 1990, arthroscopic partial menisectomy was perfaaned in twenty-five knees of twenty-five patients over 40 years of age. There wexe Mteen malea and ten females an4 the mean age at surgery was 47.1 years ran frcm 40 to 64 yeara. The mean follow-up period was 21 months ranging from 13 to 52 months. Medial meniscus was affected in fifteen knees, lateral meniscus in nine knees and both meniscii in one knee. There wete eight cases of bucket handle t4ar, three cases of longitudinll tear, three cases of flapping tear, one case of transverse tear, one case of horizontal teax and nine cases of complex tear. Overall results 6f arthroscQpiq partial menisectomy in the patients over 40 years of age were aatisfactory. So it seieins that the age of a patient does noi affect the result of arthroscopic partial menisectoOy for meniacus tear significantly. And there was no statistical evidence that the preaxisting degenerative arthritis affects the result of arthroscopic partial menisectomy adversely. |
