Summary:Osteochondritis dissecans of the patella is rare. The first case was reported by Romhold in 1936. We reviewed 7 cases of 4 patients from Jan. l 995 to Jan. 1996. The followed-up period was from 9 rnonths 1o 20 nionths. The age at onset ranged from 15 to 32 years. The centro-inferior site was the most common site of the lesion(4 cases). Operation was indicated for persistent pain, intra-articular loose bodies and subchondral sclerosis. All were Lreateci by arthroscopic shaving and curettage. The results according to the Bentley's criteria six excellent and one good. We think that it needs more long followed-up for proiressive osteoarthritis.
