Description
Summary:Genetically diabetic mice (type 2 diabtes mellitus; KK-Ay/Ta and C57BL/KsJ-db/db) were treated intravenously with a-BSA, and timecourse of aggregated protein in the glomerulus were compared with those in normal (ICR) mice. At the same time, blood glucose and blood insulin levels were determined. The kideny was examined histopathologically. Compared with the ICR mice, a-BSA content in the glomerulus was markedly higher in the genetically diabetic mice. The blood glucose level after administration of a-BSA was markedly lower than that before the administration in the genetically diabetic mice. Compared with the ICR mice, insulin level was also markedly higher in the genetically diabetic mice. Thus it was clarified that aggregated protein tends to deposit in the glomerulus and is processed slowly in the genetically diabetic mice. It is suggested that these occur since insulin participates in processing of a-BSA in the glomeruli, and insulin resistance possibly explain delayed processing of a-BSA in genetically diabetic mice.
