Summary: | Content Partner: Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research. Prices Valley, Banks Peninsula, was visited on 11.8.83 in company with Mary Stolp (Botany Division), Bruce Arnold and Ian Hill (Lands and Survey). The visit was made at the request of Lands and Survey with a view to their acquiring the area for a reserve. Prices Valley lies between Kaituna Valley and Little River. It contains an important remnant of alluvial lowland forest with black and white pine. There is a great variety of shrub species including the most extensive range of divaricating shrubs to be found anywhere on Banks Peninsula. These include the rare Teucridium parviflorum; Pseudopanax ferox is also present. (auth) |
