Summary:In force for twenty-seven years, the landmark INF Treaty now seems to be in dire straits. The U.S. has accused Russia of having violated the treaty, but without giving any details. Moscow has dismissed the allegations as baseless, but refused to address U.S. compliance concerns. I argue that its demise is not imminent. But the INF Treaty was not attended to and adjusted in time in order to increase its chances of survival in a changing security environment.
