Summary: | On-board time precision plays an important role in the image processing, precise orbit determination, and normal operations of the GEO-KOMPSAT 2A. An analysis of satellite onboard clock drift was performed, and it was observed that the drift is in accordance with the seasonal changes and temperature. The driving force of the clock drift was thermal variations of the on-board equipment caused by the changes in solar view angle owing to the seasonal variations. In this study, to compensate for the effect of the OBT clock drift, we proposed an algorithm for adaptive clock drift estimation and management. The precise OBT drift set can be automatically determined based on the statistical accumulated data. Applying the OBT drift error compensation mechanism from this study can maintain satellite within marginal tolerance of OBT error range. The results of this study can aid geometrical image alignment during GEO-KOMPSAT 2A image processing. |
