Summary: | We consider a nanofilter device that has been used experimentally for separation of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) with different lengths less than thousands of base pairs. We introduce a master equation for describing the dynamics of DNA in a nanofilter under an external electric field, and obtain the probability distribution of DNA for a given nanofilter geometry. Our results are consistent with experimental results and provide an estimate of the minimum device size required to obtain the target separation resolution in the separation of DNA. |
