Description
Summary:A resolver is a type of converter, that provides the rotation angle of a rotating device by converting it into an electric signal. The analog resolver requires converting the resolver signal into a digital signal. The angle tracking observer (ATO) method is the most widely used software resolver-to-digital conversion methods. In an actual resolver-based position detection system, amplitude imbalance and quadrature imperfections are the main causes of distortion in the estimated position information of the ATO. Some papers have published research results on compensation for the position error of the output signal of the resolver with amplitude imbalance. However, this paper presents a new ATO algorithm that can compensate for the position error caused by the imperfect quadrature in addition to amplitude imbalance. This method eliminates the need to pre-measure offline data because the method is easy, simple, and cost-effective and can achieve online error compensation. Simulations and experiments were performed to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm. The proposed ATO was able to reduce the position error by 2° compared to the conventional ATO.
