Description
Summary:The compensation effect has been observed in the creep of the conventional polycrystalline Alloy 718. The apparent creep activation energy Q sub app changes linearly with the logarithm of changing pre-exponential factor. The compensation temperature T sub c was found to be approx810 deg C, which is very close to the critical temperature for fast gamma " to delta phase transition in Alloy 718. A creep equation, in which only one composition-dependent parameter, i.e. Q sub app , is involved, has been derived from the compensation law. The creep rates calculated according to this derived equation are in excellent agreement with the experimental data.
