Summary: | The results of photon kinetic simulations of the propagation of a short laser pulse in plasma are compared with simulation results for the same pulse from a slowly varying envelope code. The envelope method retains more information about the phase of the electromagnetic field, which makes it more complete than the photon kinetic approach. However, the envelope code requires a much smaller grid size and time step for accurate simulation of pump depletion. |
