Summary:We report on 2 experimental campaigns carried out on the MAGPIE generator (1MA, 240ns). In the 1st set of experiments the wires of the array were placed along the lines of longitude of a sphere, resulting in ablation from the wires being directed towards the centre of the sphere. In the 2nd set of experiments 2 wires were turned around the circumference of a cylinder, producing a double helix. Rather than ablating from the wires and flowing towards the axis of the array, plasma at the wires appeared to simply expand around the wires - suggesting a balance between usual global force and the force due to the induced Bz field.
