Description
Summary:Classical mechanics is not sufficient to describe ion confinement in the dynamic Kingdon trap. We compute quantum corrections to the classical pseudopotential and supplement classical stability criteria with quantum stability criteria. Considering a realistic experimental scenario we show that it is possible to operate the dynamic Kingdon trap in the quantum regime.
