Summary: | Results are presented from calculations of the anomalous absorption of an ordinary radiowave in the ionospheric plasma by a system of small-scale cylindrical density irregularities such that {delta}N < 0. Account is taken of the effect of density perturbations on the propagation of excited cold waves and their conversion into plasma waves. It is shown that this effect attenuates the anomalous absorption of the radiowave. However, for sufficiently large density perturbations (about 6% or more), the absorption is substantial even for irregularities having comparatively large transverse sizes (about 5 m). The fluxes of cold and plasma waves excited by a radiowave in the anomalous absorption process are determined. |
