Summary: | The propagation characteristics of rarefactive ion acoustic solitary waves in dusty plasma containing negative ions has been observed experimentally. It was found that, in the present dusty plasma condition, applied rarefactive (negative) voltage pulse cannot break into rarefactive solitons until a sufficient concentration of negative ions is introduced into the dusty plasma. The velocity of rarefactive solitary wave in multicomponent plasma with negative ions is greater than that in the presence of negatively charged dust. The velocity and width of the solitary waves are measured and compared with numerical results of the Korteweg–de Vries Burgers equation. |
