Description
Summary:The RHIC polarized proton collider polarimeters employ the analyzing power in p-Carbon elastic scattering in the Coulomb Nuclear Interference region to measure the proton beam polarization. These are calibrated by the polarized hydrogen jet target that measures the absolute beam polarization utilizing the pp elastic scattering process in the CNI region. This paper describes the status of these polarimeters and the efforts employed to improve the performance in terms of better resolution, rate handling capability, and reduced systematic uncertainties.
