Description
Summary:The microstructural characterization of Polystyrene co-acrylonitrile and Titanium dioxide (PSAN/TiO{sub 2}) nanocomposites has been performed by Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy. The decrease of positron lifetime parameters viz. o-Ps lifetime (τ{sub 3}) and free volume size (V{sub f}) up to 0.6 wt% of TiO{sub 2} is attributed to the filling of free volume holes by TiO{sub 2} nanoparticles. The increased free volume size (V{sub f}) after 0.6 wt% of TiO{sub 2} indicates the formation of interface due to TiO{sub 2} nanoclusters. The variation of electrical conductivity at the lower and higher concentration of TiO{sub 2} in (PSAN/TiO{sub 2}) nanocomposites is attributed to the blocking effect and space charge effect respectively.
