Summary: | The flocculating capability of a mixture of chitosan and poly(2-dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) methyl sulfate quaternary salt in fat-containing waters was studied. A synergistic effect was determined that involves a significant increase in the degree of clarification and a simultaneous decrease in the fat and organic impurity contents compared with the use of individual flocculants. The prospects of using the studied mixture of similarly charged polyelectrolytes when treating actual sewage from a milk processing plant are described. |
