Atomic beam study of Nb in the vortex state
We have observed transitions in a state-selected beam of neutral potassium atoms by passing them over the surface of an Nb cylinder. These transitions arise because of the motion of the atoms through the spatially periodic magnetic field of the vortex lattice which extends for several 100 Å outside...

Summary: | We have observed transitions in a state-selected beam of neutral potassium atoms by passing them over the surface of an Nb cylinder. These transitions arise because of the motion of the atoms through the spatially periodic magnetic field of the vortex lattice which extends for several 100 Å outside the surface. The use of this technique in studying vortex motion as well as microscopic field variations in other systems will be discussed. |
