New [ital T]=0 strength in [sup 16]O at [ital E][sub [ital x]]=24 to 27 MeV

There are several known [ital T]=1 states in [sup 16]O in the region of 24 to 27 MeV excitation. We observe the alpha-particle decay to the ground state of [sup 12]C of many excited states in [sup 16]O, some of which reside between 24 to 27 MeV. Either we have observed new states in [sup 16]O or the...

Description
Summary:There are several known [ital T]=1 states in [sup 16]O in the region of 24 to 27 MeV excitation. We observe the alpha-particle decay to the ground state of [sup 12]C of many excited states in [sup 16]O, some of which reside between 24 to 27 MeV. Either we have observed new states in [sup 16]O or there is a very strong admixture of [ital T]=0 in these previously assigned [ital T]=1 states.
