Cu( p , X ) sup 24 Na cross section from 30 to 800 GeV

The Cu({ital p},{ital X}){sup 24}Na cross section was measured at energies of 30, 150, 400, and 800 GeV. Proton fluences were determined with beam current transformer systems which were calibrated electrically {ital in} {ital situ}. The {sup 24}Na produced in Cu targets was assayed by comparing the...

Description
Summary:The Cu({ital p},{ital X}){sup 24}Na cross section was measured at energies of 30, 150, 400, and 800 GeV. Proton fluences were determined with beam current transformer systems which were calibrated electrically {ital in} {ital situ}. The {sup 24}Na produced in Cu targets was assayed by comparing the intensity of its 1368-keV {gamma} ray with that of the 1332-keV {gamma} ray from {sup 60}Co standard sources. Results are consistent with an energy-independent cross section of 3.59{plus minus}0.14 mb.
