Summary:The room temperature tensile properties of a duplex cast Ti)48Al)2Cr)2Nb alloy are shown to be independent of the presence of alpha -2 vs. B2 in the gamma matrix. Oxygen in the range 600-1800 ppm did not affect the strength or ductility of the cast alloy. The strength and ductility of duplex cast gamma titanium aluminide is controlled by the aluminum content and equiaxed gamma grain size rather than the phase morphology. The B2 phase is shown to be detrimental to the creep resistance.
