Summary: | V sin i for the rapidly rotating G-type giant FK Com is estimated using high-resolution coude spectra and the Fourier transform approach. The result, V sin i = 159 ± 4 km s⁻¹, agrees well with recent determinations which used direct comparison of FK Com spectra with those of artificially broadened standards. If FK Com does not differ drastically in its internal structure from more normal stars, its angular momentum is a few (perhaps 10) times larger than for single rapidly rotating stars following standard relations for the upper main sequence. Its angular momentum is about 3 times smaller than that of the orbital motion in a typical W UMa-type system. |
