Effect of Composition on Superconducting Properties in the System Ba-Y-Gd-Cu-O

The superconducting properties of a solid‐solution region in the Ba‐Y‐Gd‐Cu‐O system were investigated as a function of composition. Phase relations, the peritectic decomposition temperature, the superconducting onset temperature (Tc), and the transport current density (Jc) were measured. The highes...

Description
Summary:The superconducting properties of a solid‐solution region in the Ba‐Y‐Gd‐Cu‐O system were investigated as a function of composition. Phase relations, the peritectic decomposition temperature, the superconducting onset temperature (Tc), and the transport current density (Jc) were measured. The highest Tc and Jc are observed along the line between the stoichiometric Ba2YCu3O6+x and Ba2GdCu3O6+x compositions.
