Simple model of self-organized biological evolution

We give an exact solution of a recently proposed self-organized critical model of biological evolution. We show that the model has a power law distribution of durations of coevolutionary "avalanches" with a mean field exponent 3/2. We also calculate analytically the finite size effects whi...

Description
Summary:We give an exact solution of a recently proposed self-organized critical model of biological evolution. We show that the model has a power law distribution of durations of coevolutionary "avalanches" with a mean field exponent 3/2. We also calculate analytically the finite size effects which cut off this power law at times of the order of the system size.
