Summary: | While claiming to be apolitical in its editorial strategy dedicated to opposing the censorship and thought control of the Nazi invaders and their Vichy cohorts, Les Editions de Minuit was in fact a partisan purveyor of Communist propaganda. Minuit played a subtle yet complex role in the mediation of an intellectual response to the opposing and dominant Nazi discourse. I will argue that the dynamics of this publishing house and the changes in its editorial strategy can best be understood by reconstructing the social space in which all the persons who contributed to the production of Minuit's works found themselves. |
