Description
Summary:The aim of this paper is to analyse the capacity of the WCDMA systems with different types of services. The first step has been the development of a rather simplified method to estimate the mean and variance of the intercell interference. In order to shape this interference the Gaussian and Gamma distribution have been evaluated and the path loss and the shadowing effects have been considered. Using this interference model, an iterative method has been introduced to estimate the homogeneous and heterogeneous systems capacity. Following the results we can appreciate the capacity threshold for every class of guaranteed service and the whole capacity of the system when we integrate several types of services. We can judge by the results that, having in mind this interference model, there is a linear connection between the system capacity and the bit rates. This relation allows the dimensioning of a WCDMA system in a simple way depending on the different classes of supported traffic. Besides, this dimensioning is the initial steps for the application of resource control and call admission algorithms to the system.
