description The unfavourable conditions of operation of pipelines of objects in atomic power engineering (radioactive and corrosive media, high temperatures and pressure), the restricted access to the area in which operation should be carried out, the safety conditions of potentially dangerous types of production, etc., determine stringent requirements on integrity, strength, and corrosion resistance of their welded joints. The joints between the pipelines, between pipelines and fittings and technological equipment and systems in the radioactive circuits are produced by welding. Special features of the assembling operations and the short periods of construction require, on the one hand, highly productive methods (procedures) in welding and on the other hand, it is important to ensure high quality of welded joints. The same requirements are also important in the efficient prevention servicing of tubular structures. The increase in the productivity and improvement of the working conditions can be ensured by automatic orbital welding in shielding gases, characterised by the highest parameters in regards to stability and reproducibility of the quality of welded joints.
