Description
Summary:Backside packaging of photovoltaic (PV) modules typically consists of a multi-layer adhesive laminate that is bonded to the cell structure with a thick EVA sheet. Each component of the laminate serves a specific purpose. However, this multi-layer laminate makes for a cumbersome and expensive system, which also introduces the potential for delamination problems. The solution: DuPont Teijin Films has developed a single component PET PV backing film. The white pigmented film has a permanent surface treatment and meets all the requirements of a reliable product for this application. Specialized Technology Resources (STR) has developed an extrusion coating process for this film, which reduces labor and improves quality in module production. Modules using this technology have been successfully produced and tested by photovoltaic module manufacturers.
