Summary: | Four experimental models having different body part structures and two computer models of the female pelvic region were constructed and used to measure the distribution of induced current based on tissue conductivity. This paper reports the current distribution in the female abdomen obtained using experimental and computer models in the magnetic stimulation method for the treatment of urinary incontinence. In addition, the influences of tissue inhomogeneity are discussed. Magnetic stimulation has been reported to be effective for the treatment of urinary incontinence. However, little is known about the distribution of current in the body, and it is necessary to develop magnetic stimulators that more efficiently stimulate muscles and nerves and that are more convenient compared to presently available stimulators. |
