Description
Summary:Today two semiconductor families compete in the market of high-power inverters: the transistor type IGBTs and the thyristor type (I)GCT. The aim of this work is to combine the advantages of the GCT with the flexibility of the IGBT by developing an intelligent GCT-driver optimized for soft-switching inverters. This means the gate drive has to provide all the functionalities which these topologies demand and ensure a high reliability. The result is an easy-to-use gate driver that allows the construction of soft-switching medium-voltage inverters with significantly reduced efforts.
